About Rob Fish, the Basic Hydraulics Instructor

I am a father, a grandfather, an avid pickleball player, and an independent trainer. Other than my Basic Hydraulics class, I have no products or services to sell. The only focus of my Basic Hydraulics class is helping your personnel:

  • • Get the longest possible life from your hydraulic components,
  • • Get the best possible performance from your hydraulic components and systems,
  • • Do a better and faster job of hydraulic troubleshooting, and
  • • Read and understand hydraulic schematics.

Before developing my Basic Hydraulics class and becoming an independent trainer, I worked as a sales engineer for a fluid power distributor, conducted training classes for both that fluid power distributor and a vocational school, earned the International Fluid Power Society's "Fluid Power Specialist" certification, and had a hydraulic circuit I designed featured in an issue of "Hydraulics & Pneumatics" magazine.

About the same time I was completing multiple "how to conduct training" courses (so I could do a better job of teaching about hydraulics), I earned a FIFA class "E" soccer coaching license (so I could do a better job of coaching my kids' soccer teams). It turned out that many of the techniques and principles I used to teach kids how to play soccer are a big help in teaching adults about hydraulics.

I really enjoy puns and dad jokes. While you may not find either here on my web site, there are a few included in my Basic Hydraulics Class at no additional charge.

My favorite feedback from Basic Hydraulics classes I've conducted includes:

  • •  "I didn't know my boss was going to sit in on the class to see what kind of trainer I hired. Thanks for making me look good,"
  • •  "If more training was like this, our company would invest in more training,"
  • •  "I wish I'd taken this class 10 years ago," and
  • •  "I was in the Basic Hydraulics class you taught in Seattle last week and I'd like you to come teach the same class to my guys in California."
